FedEx receives first Boeing 767 of its new freighter fleet

FedEx Express, the express delivery branch of US-based shipping giant FedEx Corp, received the first aircraft of its modernised freight fleet yesterday.

The Boeing 767-300, which can carry approximately 58 tonnes, is up to 30% more fuel efficient than previous models. As well as improving FedEx's environmental performance, the increased fuel efficiency will save the company 20% in operating costs per unit.

Brad McCulle, vice President of North America Sales at Boeing, commented: "We are excited to see the 767 freighter join the FedEx fleet... With its tremendous efficiency among medium wide-body cargo airplanes, [it] will complement FedEx's fleet and support fast, reliable deliveries to customers around the world."
