Booking a Parcel Delivery to Canada

With Canada being the world’s second largest country by surface area, you may think organising a parcel delivery to Canada would be tedious job. However here at Transglobal Express, we will have a delivery service for you.

The UK is Canada’s second biggest trading partner, beaten only by the USA. It also has one of the world’s most stable and developed economies meaning there is great potential for any business looking to trade internationally.

But before you proceed to book your parcel delivery service, there are a few things you should take a look at before you begin. Here is a short handy guide to help you book your parcel delivery to Canada.

Dangerous, Hazardous and Restricted Items

When shipping items abroad, you will find that it is not always possible to send certain items so it is always worth checking before sending. If a dangerous or hazardous item is found in your consignment, you will be fined £100.

Other items can be classed as restricted which means you can only send them depending on the carrier or country. One other class of items is the no compensation items. These are things that we offer no standard liability or insurance cover for damage. This is mainly due to whether the item is of a delicate nature.

For more information and a list of the items that fall under these categories, you can check our Dangerous,Hazardous and Prohibited Items page.

Customs Information for Canada

With Canada not being part of the European Union, any shipments sent from the UK to Canada is required to go through customs clearance. We will produce a Customs Invoice for you that will need to accompany the consignment. It is important that when you are booking your shipment, you include detailed, accurate descriptions of your goods.

You can find out more about customs clearance on our website, as well as more carrier specific information and for shipping to Canada here. You can also visit the Canada Border Services Agency website.

Transit Times to Canada

Transglobal Express can offer express services to Canada’s major cities with generally a 2-day transit time. Economy options are available that can take around 4 days. Deliveries to remote areas, particularly in the northern territories, will require extra time.

You can get a better idea of transit times by using our transit time calculator tool.

Sending a Parcel to Belgium is Easy - A Handy Guide

Shipping to Belgium is a really easy process when the right preparation has been carried out. Here is a quick guide on what is worth checking before sending a parcel to Belgium.

Dangerous, Hazardous & Prohibited Items

When sending items abroad, there are certain restrictions on what you can send and what you can’t send. Before booking your service, it is highly recommended that you are able send them. Sending a prohibited item could result in you receiving a fine of £100.

Some items have certain restrictions imposed on them and can only be sent to certain countries and with certain carriers. Another class of items is no compensation items. These are typically more fragile items that we are unable to offer insurance cover of if they are damaged in transit. Visit our dangerous, hazardous and prohibited items page for more information.

Customs Duties and Paperwork

As Belgium is within the EU, customs clearance is not required for parcel deliveries made from the UK and the consignment will not need a customs invoice. Despite of this, security checks will still be made and it is important that all documents are filled in accurately and in full.

For more information on customs clearance and security checks for sending a parcel to Belgium, you can check the Belgium customs website.

Weight and Dimensions of Your Parcel

Before booking your parcel delivery to Belgium. You will need to have accurate measurements for the weight and dimensions of your parcel. Digital scales tend to be the most accurate for weighing. Be sure to include the weight of your packaging and cushioning so it is best to weigh it when it is fully packaged and sealed.

When obtaining the dimensions of your parcel, it is important to measure it as accurately as possible. Your parcel will be measured using lasers by the carrier after they have collected it and if there are any discrepancies between the stated measurements at the time of booking, an additional cost could be billed to the shipper.

A rectangular box can be quite easy to measure; however, an irregularly shaped object can be a bit more awkward. You should include the furthest most point of each side of the parcel, as shown in the example below. More details on how to obtain the weight and dimensions of your parcel can be found here.

Transit Times to Belgium

We provide a next day delivery service for Belgium, though some economy services generally take 2 days. If your delivery is going to a more “remote” area of Belgium, additional time may also be needed.

For a more accurate idea of transit times for sending your cheap parcel delivery, you can use our transit time calculator tool which looks at specific carriers.

Our Bikeathon Challenge in Aid of the Clatterbridge Cancer Charity

A little while back we got asked by the Clatterbridge Cancer Charity if we would like to get involved in their corporate challenge. This involves us taking £50 and turning it into £1000 or more. So far, we have manged to pass the £500 mark and next on our list of events is a sponsored bikeathon.

The Corporate Challenge

The Clatterbridge Cancer Charity is currently trying to raise funds for a social room and roof terrace in their new Liverpool hospital. Their aim is to lessen the sense of isolation cancer patients can often experience during their treatment. Their target is £40,000 and hopefully we at Transglobal Express can help them achieve their goal.

The Bikeathon

One of our main fundraising event ideas was a bikeathon and seeing as we have two offices, one in Bromborough in the UK, and another in Kelsterbach, Germany, we thought it would be a good idea to cycle the distance between the two offices. According to Google maps, this is approximately 697 miles by bike.

Currently, we have 28 volunteers prepared to take it in turns, on an exercise bike, to achieve the distance. We will be starting the challenge on Monday 27th March and will be cycling throughout normal working hours (8am-6.30pm) of that week.

Our Managing Director has also pledged that Transglobal Express will match whatever we raise.

How to Support Us

If you would like to sponsor us or donate, you can do so via our Just Giving page. All donations go directly to the Clatterbridge Cancer Charity.

Updates will be posted on our Twitter and Facebook feeds as the event takes place. Please feel free to share our posts to help spread the word.

What do I Need to Check Before Sending a Parcel to Italy?

Sending a parcel to Italy with Transglobal Express is simple, however before booking your parcel delivery to Italy, we would always advise to check important information about sending a parcel there.

Dangerous, Hazardous & Prohibited Items

Before sending anything abroad, you will need to check what items are classed as Dangerous, Hazardous & Prohibited items. If you do send something that falls in to these categories, you could end up with a fine of £100. You can find a list of these items here. We also recommend checking the policy of your chosen carrier as further restrictions may apply. You can find details on our carrier’s own restrictions specific to Italy on this page.

Customs Advice

As the UK and Italy are still part of the EU, customs clearance is not needed. However, security checks will still be carried out. It is important that all documents required for your parcel delivery to Italy are completed accurately to avoid any problems or delays. Once you have completed your booking, we will generate your documents for you ready to print off and complete.
It is also worth knowing that VAT is payable on all carriage charges for EU shipments.

Transit Times to Italy

It could be possible that your parcel to Italy needs to be delivered by a certain date. Transit times from the UK to Italy are generally one day with an express service, and at least three days with cheaper economy services. Some regions of Italy are regarded as “remote” which may require additional transit time.
If you would like to get a more accurate idea of a transit time for your parcel, please use one of our transit time calculators using your postcodes. It is worth noting that whilst enjoying a very high success rate, we can never guarantee transit times due to issues such as local bank holidays, adverse weather conditions and potential customs delays.

If you would like any more information or have any questions about sending a parcel to Italy, please feel free to contact us via e-mail, phone, or live chat.
