DHL land five-year contract with Volvo Cars

DHL Supply Chain has recently been awarded with a five-year long contract with one of the world's most renown automotive brands, Volvo Cars. The parcel delivery company it due to handle its aftermarket parts warehousing and distribution to more than 120 dealers throughout the UK.

The parcel delivery company is expected to manage four shared use local distribution centres to place deliveries through the night using DHL's Auto Alliance collaborative platform. The service is to incorporate flexible driver departure times to remote areas, enhancing the efficiency of its delivery service across the nation.

DHL will deploy a new fleet of fuel-efficient vehicles as part of the contract with Volvo Cars.

DHL to assist in nationwide harvest transportation

Leading logistics provider, DHL Supply Chain is due to collaborate with over 300 TASCC approved third party road haulage companies to organise the movement of grain across the UK to coincide with the preparation of the agricultural industry for the coming harvest season.

DHL has relationships with a complete network of nationally known providers which will enable it to complete the movement coordination successfully. This includes a Logistics Control Room in Hertfordshire, a dedicated team who provide a point of entry into the network to offer its customers access to cost-effective hauliers.

Vice President, Control Towers and Transport Servicse at DHL Supply Chain, Ian Hartley, has said: "We understand the success of many UK agricultural businesses depends on their ability to deliver a profitable harvest. Maintaining product quality is of paramount importance to cereal farmers, merchants and processors and often replies on the timely movement of product at short notice, so having a robust transportation solution is critical."

DHL secures £100m contract with Panasonic

DHL Supply Chain has scored a £100m contract with the British technology company, Panasonic. The global courier and supply chain company will be responsible for the management of all warehousing and transport activities.



"This is a significant solution that has been constructed in a very short timescale. Throughout, we have taken a truly collaborative approach to the project, working in partnership with Panasonic and adding value by exploiting our flexibility, global reach and focus on commercial innovation", said Paul Richardson, Managing Director of Specialist Services at DHL Supply Chain.

Increased transparency and new technology for Panasonic

Two of Panasonic's key goals are higher levels and decreased costs. Beyond that, the UK-based technology giant also aims at improving its service quality with the help of DHL. In order to optimise levels of transparency among Panasonic's transport networks, the current facilities will be turned into a technology campus. This will feature a plug and play IT solution as well as a Transport Control Tower.


"As our business evolves, it was necessary to bring in an innovative logistics specialist who understands the emerging needs of the technology sector. Our business needs the flexibility to adapt to the demands of current and new markets, addressing rapid product life cycles whilst consistently improving on our customer's experiences", explained Nigel Cowmeadow, Chief Supply Chain Officer at Panasonic Europe.

DHL Express - New Round-the-World Flight links HK, LA and LEJ

In future, any customer interested in sending parcels to the USA, will be able to take advantage of DHL’s new intercontinental parcel delivery services and their global air fleet.

Starting 27th March, three additional Boeing 777F freighters will fly a new round-the-world route connecting the DHL hubs: Hong Kong, Los Angeles and Leipzig. The idea behind this new service is to offer next-day services in the USA and Canada.
“The introduction of this new round-the-world flight by DHL, The International Specialists, will bring unrivalled benefits to our customers in all sectors in Asia, Europe, the U.S. and Canada, and deliver reduced transit times on some of the world’s most important trade lanes”, confirmed Ken Allen, CEO of DHL Express.
Beyond that, DHL Express transit and collection times are said to improve significantly. Customers from Western U.S. cities including Los Angeles and Seattle will benefit from later time frames. According to the logistics company, bookings with DHL courier services to Europe could be made up to three hours later than usual.

Quickacy signs three-year contract with DHL Supply Chain

DHL Supply Chain has scored an agreement another high-profile European client. The successful Swedish pharmaceutical company, Quickacy (Swedish: Snabboteket AB), signed a three-year contract with the international supply chain solutions provider.

DHL Supply Chain will responsible for the packing, distribution and warehousing of Quickacy’s pharamaceuticals which are highly temperature sensitive and will therefore be kept in special DHL Supply Chain facility in Örebro. 

The logistics company has assured that its team are trained in the GDP (Good Distribution Practice) rules and will comply with such.
