FedEx launches Ship & Give programme to support Sandy victims

Two weeks after Hurricane Sandy caused chaos and destruction in the East Coast corner of the United States, hundreds of FedEx team members have been lending a hand to badly affected communities.

This week, FedExOffice announced the launch of its “Pack, Ship & Give programme”. The carrier is planning on donating $1 to the Food Bank for New York City and the Community Food Bank of New Jersey for each Pack & Ship transaction.

Brian Philips, president and CEO of FedEx Office, said that “FedEx has been working since immediately following the storm to transport desperately needed relief supplies through the disaster response and community nonprofits where we have existing relationships.”

“We have been supporting the Food Bank For New York and Community Food Bank of New Jersey for years, and, with the help of our customers, FedEx is eager to provide these organisations with additional aid when the demand for their services remains so high.”

During the two weeks following Sandy, the courier company transported a staggering three million pounds of disaster relief supplies to citizens in destructed areas such as New Jersey and New York.
